Frequently Asked Questions
Product Information: Flame Retardant EconomyPlate™ Sheets
What are DragonPlate Flame Retardant EconomyPlate™ Sheets?
DragonPlate Flame Retardant EconomyPlate™ Sheets are carbon fiber laminate sheets constructed from 0°/90° twill weave plies and manufactured using flame retardant epoxy resins. These sheets are designed to resist the spread of fire and are suitable for applications in aviation and marine environments. They are available in twill gloss, matte, or textured finishes on one side, with a textured finish on the other for bonding. Plain weave face sheets can also be requested in matte or gloss finishes. CNC machining is available for these sheets. Note: Not all components are guaranteed to meet specific burn tests; customers must verify suitability for their application.
What sizes and thicknesses are available for Flame Retardant EconomyPlate™ Sheets?
Flame Retardant EconomyPlate™ Sheets are available in the following sizes and thicknesses:
- 1/32" x 24" x 48" (SKU: FEPLFR01G*90*2448) – $402.80
- 1/32" x 48" x 96" (SKU: FEPFRL01_*90*4896) – $1,291.20
- 1/16" x 24" x 48" (SKU: FEPFRL02_*90*2448) – $471.65
- 1/16" x 48" x 96" (SKU: FEPFRL02_*90*4896) – $1,566.60
- 1/8" x 24" x 48" (SKU: FEPFRL04_*90*2448) – $626.10
- 1/8" x 48" x 96" (SKU: FEPFRL04_*90*4896) – $2,104.38
Note: Availability and pricing are subject to change. Please allow 10-15 days before this product ships.
What finishes are available for Flame Retardant EconomyPlate™ Sheets?
These sheets are offered with a choice of twill gloss, matte, or textured finish on one side, and a textured finish on the other side for bonding. Plain weave face sheets are also available upon request in both matte and gloss finishes. Note: Custom finishes may require additional lead time or minimum order quantities.
What flame retardancy certifications do these sheets have?
DragonPlate flame retardant carbon fiber veneer is tested and certified to pass the FAR 25.853(a) Appendix F vertical burn specification. The same flame retardant epoxy resin system is used in EconomyPlate™ Sheets. However, flame retardancy depends on the resin system, geometry, orientation, and integration of the components into the assembly. DragonPlate does not guarantee that any particular standard flame retardant structural component will meet or pass specific burn testing for your application. Customers are responsible for verifying that these materials meet their requirements. For higher flame retardancy, some shapes can be made with flame retardant carbon fiber prepreg materials, which can be manufactured to meet both FAR 25.853 vertical burn and smoke/toxicity requirements. Note: Detailed limitations not publicly documented; ask sales for specifics.
Can I get custom sizes or CNC machining for Flame Retardant EconomyPlate™ Sheets?
Yes, CNC machining is available for EconomyPlate™ solid carbon fiber sheets. Custom face sheets (such as plain weave in matte or gloss) can also be requested. For unique requirements, contact DragonPlate engineering to discuss your project. Note: Customization may affect lead times and pricing.
