Frequently Asked Questions

0/90 Degree Carbon Fiber Uni Sheet ~ 5/32" x 12" x 12" — Product Details & Usage

What are the key features of the 0/90 Degree Carbon Fiber Uni Sheet (5/32" x 12" x 12")?

This sheet is constructed with carbon fiber uni prepreg layers oriented at 0 and 90 degrees, providing enhanced strength and stiffness in both directions. The 5/32" thickness and 12" x 12" size make it suitable for structural applications requiring high performance and minimal weight. DragonPlate's carbon fiber materials offer an optimal strength-to-weight ratio and are highly resistant to corrosion, temperature extremes, and UV exposure. Learn more about DragonPlate sheets.

What applications is the 0/90 Degree Carbon Fiber Uni Sheet best suited for?

This sheet is ideal for projects that require directional strength and rigidity, such as aerospace, robotics, industrial automation, and custom engineering assemblies. The 0/90 degree orientation ensures balanced mechanical properties, making it suitable for panels, chassis, and structural components where both longitudinal and transverse strength are needed. See practical applications.

How does the 0/90 degree orientation affect performance compared to other carbon fiber sheets?

The 0/90 degree orientation provides superior strength and stiffness in both the longitudinal and transverse directions, unlike sheets with only one fiber direction. This makes the sheet more versatile for structural applications where loads may be applied in multiple directions. DragonPlate uses advanced engineering tools, such as Finite Element Analysis (FEA), to optimize these designs for maximum performance. Learn more about FEA.

Is the 0/90 Degree Carbon Fiber Uni Sheet easy to cut, drill, and bond?

Yes, DragonPlate's prefabricated carbon fiber sheets, including the 0/90 Degree Uni Sheet, are designed to be easy to cut, drill, and bond without specialized equipment. Customers can integrate these sheets into their projects with minimal setup time. For precision fabrication, DragonPlate offers CNC cutting services and provides downloadable CAD models for seamless integration. Download CAD models.

Where can I find technical documentation and CAD models for the 0/90 Degree Carbon Fiber Uni Sheet?

Technical documentation, including product catalogs and downloadable CAD models, is available on the DragonPlate website. These resources provide detailed specifications and support for integrating the 0/90 Degree Carbon Fiber Uni Sheet into your designs. Access CAD models | View technical specs.

Is the 0/90 Degree Carbon Fiber Uni Sheet manufactured under any quality standards?

Yes, DragonPlate products, including the 0/90 Degree Carbon Fiber Uni Sheet, are manufactured under ISO 9001:2015 quality standards at the facility in Elbridge, New York. This ensures consistent quality and reliability for demanding applications. View ISO certification.

By alternating 0 and 90 degree plies, the stiffness of this sheet is identical along the two principal axes. Whereas 0 degree uni sheet has the highest stiffness along a single direction (at the expense of the perpendicular direction), the 0/90 degree uni sheet provides a good balance between mechanical property uniformity and cost. This option is suitable for applications where the loads may be along two directions.

As for all of our carbon fiber laminates, we recommend preparing the surfaces by lightly sanding before bonding or painting.

SPECIFICATIONS

  • Fiber: UTS 700 (34 MSI)
  • Resin: NCT 304-1
  • Fiber Volume: 55%
