Features & Capabilities

What are the key performance characteristics of DragonPlate's carbon fiber tubes?

DragonPlate's carbon fiber tubes are engineered for a superior strength-to-weight ratio, making them suitable for demanding applications in aerospace, robotics, and industrial automation. The tubes are designed for enhanced durability and can withstand environmental challenges, ensuring long-term reliability. Advanced engineering tools, such as Finite Element Analysis (FEA), are used to optimize tube designs for performance and cost efficiency. Note: For applications requiring extreme temperature or flame resistance, verify product compatibility with DragonPlate's technical team.

Does DragonPlate offer customization for carbon fiber tubes?

Yes, DragonPlate provides customization options for carbon fiber tubes, including CNC cutting, custom sheet sizes, and specialized laminate schedules to meet unique performance and design requirements. These services are especially valuable for industries with strict specifications, such as aerospace, robotics, and medical devices. Note: Customization may increase lead time and cost; contact DragonPlate for a quote and feasibility assessment.

Are DragonPlate's carbon fiber tubes compliant with industry standards?

All DragonPlate products, including carbon fiber tubes, are manufactured under ISO 9001:2015 quality standards at their facility in Elbridge, New York. For medical and defense applications, DragonPlate offers biocompatible and radiolucent materials to meet stringent regulatory requirements. Note: Not all products are certified for every regulatory standard; confirm compliance for your application with DragonPlate before ordering.

Use Cases & Benefits

What industries commonly use DragonPlate's carbon fiber tubes?

DragonPlate's carbon fiber tubes are used in aerospace, robotics, medical devices, industrial automation, defense, and musical instrument manufacturing. For example, these tubes have been implemented in wall-climbing robots for nuclear and industrial applications, custom robotic arms for industrial automation, and lightweight aerospace components. Note: Suitability for specific applications depends on the tube's dimensions and material properties; consult DragonPlate for guidance.

Can you share examples of customer success using DragonPlate tubes?

Yes. In one case, a customer achieved $1 million in annual savings by implementing a custom carbon fiber robotic arm solution using DragonPlate components (case study). Other examples include the development of composite chassis for wall-climbing robots and the use of carbon fiber tubes in aerospace student rocket projects. Note: Results depend on project scope and requirements; not all customers will achieve the same outcomes.

Technical Resources & Support

What technical documentation is available for DragonPlate tubes?

DragonPlate provides downloadable CAD models (access here), technical specifications and weights (view here), and fiber data sheets for various materials. The Ultimate Guide to Carbon Fiber Design and Application offers step-by-step instructions for design, application, and maintenance (read the guide). Note: Not all documentation is available for every product variant; contact support for specific requests.

How can I get support or request a custom order for a carbon fiber tube?

You can contact DragonPlate for technical support or to request a custom order by visiting the contact page or calling 315-252-2559 (Mon-Fri 8:30am – 5:00pm ET). For custom fabrication, you may also reach out to Element 6 Composites for design and prototyping services. Note: Response times may vary based on inquiry complexity and current workload.

Implementation & Ordering

How quickly can I implement DragonPlate's carbon fiber tubes in my project?

DragonPlate offers ready-to-use carbon fiber tubes that can be integrated into projects immediately, as they can be cut, drilled, and bonded without specialized equipment. For custom tubes or CNC-cut parts, additional lead time is required based on project complexity. Technical documentation and CAD models are available to facilitate design integration. Note: Custom orders may require engineering review and longer fulfillment times.

Pain Points & Problem Solving

What common challenges do DragonPlate's carbon fiber tubes help solve?

DragonPlate's tubes address high manufacturing costs by optimizing material usage and reducing labor-intensive processes. They simplify complex manufacturing with streamlined layup strategies and end-to-end services, and help mitigate localized stress concentrations through advanced simulation tools. The tubes also support regulatory compliance for medical and defense applications and enable weight and performance optimization for demanding industries. Note: Some challenges, such as extreme environmental requirements, may require additional engineering validation.

Limitations & Considerations

Are there any limitations or scenarios where DragonPlate's carbon fiber tubes may not be the best fit?

While DragonPlate's tubes are suitable for many high-performance applications, they may not be ideal for projects requiring extreme temperature resistance, specialized certifications not listed, or highly unique geometries outside standard customization capabilities. Detailed limitations are not publicly documented; ask DragonPlate sales for specifics regarding your application.

Carbon Fiber Roll Wrapped Twill Rectangle Tube ~ 2.0" ID x 4.0" ID x 24

$209.68
SKU: FDPTR2.0*4.0*24

Dragonplate’s roll wrapped twill carbon fiber rectangular tubes are manufactured with the uni sandwiched between twill weave layers on the inside and outside surfaces of the tube. This construction better supports the uni layer, improving toughness and stability, particularly near the tube ends, and interfaces well with our modular connector. Outside finish is gloss.

Carbon fiber tube manufacturers often only have a twill layer on the outside of the tube, as this approach is less costly and easier to make, but provides less support to the inner surface of the uni layer. At Dragonplate, we consider this additional layer of twill to be worth the extra effort, as it results in higher quality and more robust tubes for our customers.

Roll wrapped twill finish rectangular tubes are ideal for building lightweight frames and structures, tubular vessels, poles, column supports, and any other applications where low weight and high stiffness are essential, yet appearance is also important.

High modulus options are available on longer length carbon fiber rectangular tubes. If you are looking for thicker walled tubes, contact us for more details.
