They are manufactured under ISO 9001:2015 quality standards and are available in various thicknesses and sizes. The quasi-isotropic layup ensures balanced mechanical properties in all directions. Note: Detailed flame retardancy ratings and certifications for specific sheets may require direct inquiry with DragonPlate.

Features & Capabilities

What performance benefits does the flame retardant quasi-isotropic carbon fiber twill prepreg sheet offer?

This sheet provides a lightweight yet strong solution, with optimized strength-to-weight ratio and flame retardancy. It is highly resistant to corrosion, temperature extremes, and UV exposure, making it suitable for demanding environments. DragonPlate uses Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to optimize the design and manufacturing process, reducing material waste and improving efficiency. Note: For applications requiring specific regulatory compliance, confirm the sheet's certifications with DragonPlate.

Can DragonPlate's flame retardant carbon fiber sheets be customized?

Yes, DragonPlate offers CNC cutting, custom sheet sizes, and specialized laminate schedules for its flame retardant carbon fiber sheets. Customers can request tailored solutions to meet unique performance and design requirements. For more information, visit the custom fabrication page. Note: Minimum order quantities or additional lead times may apply for custom orders.

Technical Documentation & Resources

Where can I find technical documentation and specifications for DragonPlate's flame retardant carbon fiber sheets?

Technical documentation, including product catalogs and specifications, is available on the DragonPlate website. Relevant resources include the Weights and Specs Page and downloadable CAD models. For adhesive compatibility, refer to the 3M Adhesives Catalog. Note: For detailed flame retardancy test data, contact DragonPlate directly.

Compliance & Certifications

Are DragonPlate's flame retardant carbon fiber sheets manufactured under quality certifications?

Yes, all DragonPlate products, including flame retardant carbon fiber sheets, are manufactured under ISO 9001:2015 quality standards at their facility in Elbridge, New York. This certification ensures consistent quality and manufacturing processes. Note: ISO 9001:2015 certification covers manufacturing quality but does not guarantee compliance with all industry-specific flame retardancy standards; verify specific requirements with DragonPlate.

What security and compliance certifications does DragonPlate hold?

DragonPlate has completed a CMMC Level 1 self-assessment and submitted it to the Supplier Performance Risk System (SPRS). The company has also performed a NIST SP 800-171 self-assessment to meet DFARS 252.204-7012 requirements and is actively advancing its cybersecurity program to meet CMMC Level 2 requirements. These certifications demonstrate DragonPlate's commitment to protecting sensitive information and aligning with Department of Defense cybersecurity standards. Note: These certifications pertain to information security and may not directly relate to material flame retardancy; contact DragonPlate for product-specific compliance details.

Use Cases & Industries

What industries commonly use DragonPlate's flame retardant carbon fiber sheets?

Industries such as aerospace, defense, robotics, medical devices, and industrial automation commonly use DragonPlate's flame retardant carbon fiber sheets. These sheets are selected for applications requiring lightweight, strong, and fire-resistant materials, such as aircraft interiors, drone components, and specialized enclosures. Note: For applications with unique regulatory or environmental requirements, consult DragonPlate for suitability.

Can you share examples of projects or case studies using DragonPlate flame retardant carbon fiber products?

DragonPlate's carbon fiber products have been used in projects such as composite electrical enclosures for marine defense (Frontier Electronic Systems), drone test bed systems (Eureka Dynamics), and composite chassis for wall-climbing robots (International Climbing Machines). While these case studies may not specify flame retardant sheets, they demonstrate DragonPlate's expertise in high-performance, application-specific composites. For more, see the marine defense case study and drone systems case study. Note: For flame retardant-specific case studies, contact DragonPlate directly.

Support & Implementation

How easy is it to implement DragonPlate's flame retardant carbon fiber sheets in my project?

DragonPlate provides ready-to-use sheets that can be cut, drilled, and bonded using standard tools. For complex requirements, CNC cutting and custom fabrication services are available. Technical documentation and CAD models are provided to support integration. For assistance, contact DragonPlate at service@dragonplate.com or call 315-252-2559. Note: For projects requiring specialized bonding or regulatory documentation, additional lead time may be needed.

Pain Points & Solutions

What common challenges do DragonPlate's flame retardant carbon fiber sheets help solve?

These sheets address challenges such as the need for lightweight, strong, and fire-resistant materials in demanding environments. They help reduce manufacturing costs through optimized design (using FEA), shorten lead times with stocked inventory and CNC services, and simplify assembly with modular connector systems. Note: For applications requiring certification to specific fire standards, verify compliance with DragonPlate before purchase.

Business Impact

What business impact can customers expect from using DragonPlate's flame retardant carbon fiber sheets?

Customers can expect cost savings through reduced material waste and improved manufacturing efficiency, as well as enhanced product performance due to the sheets' strength-to-weight ratio and durability. Case studies have shown measurable benefits, such as $1 million in annual savings for a custom carbon fiber robotic arm solution (see case study). Note: Actual savings and performance improvements depend on the specific application and implementation.

Dragonplate solid twill sheets comprise woven material throughout the entire thickness of the panel. These sheets are manufactured using flame retardant epoxy resins that resist the spread of fire, making them ideal for aviation and marine applications. Although not quite as stiff as our solid uni prepreg sheets, these solid twill woven sheets tend to be easier to machine, particularly when cutting small parts, details, and contours.

These sheets will also be more impact resistant than uni-directional sheets and better resist local stresses, such as side and bearing loads.

Dragonplate flame retardant structural carbon fiber materials are manufactured with the same flame retardant epoxy resin system used to create our flame retardant carbon fiber veneers. The carbon fiber veneer is tested and certified to pass the FAR 25.853(a) Appendix F vertical burn specification. Since flame retardancy is dependent upon both the resin system, as well as the geometry, orientation, and integration of the components into the overall assembly, we cannot guarantee any particular standard flame retardant structural component will meet and pass the specific burn testing necessary for your application. It is the responsibility of the customer to verify that these carbon fiber materials will meet the requirements for any specific application. If additional flame retardancy is required, many shapes can also be made with flame retardant carbon fiber prepreg materials, which have a higher degree of flame retardancy than our standard Dragonplate flame retardant products, and can be manufactured to meet both FAR 25.853 vertical burn testing, as well as smoke and toxicity requirements.
