Features & Capabilities

What are the key performance benefits of DragonPlate carbon fiber sheets?

DragonPlate carbon fiber sheets are engineered for superior strength-to-weight ratio, enhanced durability, and resistance to corrosion, temperature extremes, and UV exposure. These properties make them suitable for aerospace, robotics, medical devices, and other demanding applications. Note: For applications requiring extreme flame retardancy or high temperature, specialty products are available. Best fit for projects needing lightweight, stiff panels; teams requiring metal-like ductility may want to consider alternatives.

Does DragonPlate offer customization for carbon fiber sheets?

Yes, DragonPlate provides customization options including CNC cutting, custom sheet sizes, and specialized laminate schedules to meet specific performance and design requirements. Customers can submit concept sketches or load requirements for tailored solutions. Note: Customization may increase lead times; standard sizes are available for faster delivery. Explore customization options.

What technical resources are available to support design and implementation?

DragonPlate offers downloadable CAD models, technical guides such as The Ultimate Guide to Carbon Fiber Design and Application, and Finite Element Analysis (FEA) services to validate and optimize designs. These resources help customers integrate carbon fiber solutions efficiently. Note: FEA and engineering support are available through Element6 Composites; not all resources are free.

By alternating 0 and 90 degree plies, the stiffness of this sheet is identical along the two principal axes. Whereas 0 degree uni sheet has the highest stiffness along a single direction (at the expense of the perpendicular direction), the 0/90 degree uni sheet provides a good balance between mechanical property uniformity and cost. This option is suitable for applications where the loads may be along two directions.

As for all of our carbon fiber laminates, we recommend preparing the surfaces by lightly sanding before bonding or painting.

This sheet size has a satin finish on both sides, with options for the face sheet on both sides.
