Frequently Asked Questions

Product Information

What is the DragonPlate Carbon Tube ~ .750"OD x .540"ID x 75"?

The DragonPlate Carbon Tube ~ .750"OD x .540"ID x 75" is a pultruded carbon fiber tube manufactured in the USA. It features an outer diameter of 0.750 inches, an inner diameter of 0.540 inches, and a length of 75 inches. This tube is designed for applications requiring high strength-to-weight ratio and durability. Note: For specialized requirements or different dimensions, custom fabrication options are available.

What types of carbon fiber tubes does DragonPlate offer?

DragonPlate offers a wide range of carbon fiber tubes, including round, square, rectangular, tapered, braided, telescoping, and pultruded options. These tubes are available in various sizes and finishes to suit different engineering and structural needs. Note: Not all tube types are suitable for every application; consult technical documentation for compatibility.

Features & Capabilities

What are the key performance characteristics of DragonPlate carbon fiber tubes?

DragonPlate carbon fiber tubes are known for their superior strength-to-weight ratio, high durability, and resistance to corrosion, temperature extremes, and UV exposure. These features make them suitable for demanding environments and applications where weight reduction and performance are critical. Note: While highly durable, improper handling or machining without proper tools can damage the tubes.

Does DragonPlate offer custom fabrication for carbon fiber tubes?

Yes, DragonPlate provides custom fabrication services, including CNC cutting, custom sheet sizes, and specialized laminate schedules. Customers can request tailored solutions to meet specific design and performance requirements. For more details, visit custom fabrication services. Note: Lead times for custom parts may vary based on project complexity.

What technical resources are available for integrating DragonPlate tubes into my project?

DragonPlate offers downloadable CAD models, detailed product catalogs, and technical guides such as The Ultimate Guide to Carbon Fiber Design and Application. These resources provide specifications, integration instructions, and troubleshooting tips. Note: Some advanced engineering support may require direct consultation with DragonPlate's team.

Use Cases & Benefits

Who typically uses DragonPlate carbon fiber tubes?

DragonPlate carbon fiber tubes are used by aerospace engineers, robotics engineers, medical device designers, industrial automation specialists, defense contractors, drone innovators, hobbyists, and researchers. These users require lightweight, high-strength, and durable materials for applications such as aircraft components, robotic arms, medical imaging devices, and custom drones. Note: For highly specialized regulatory requirements, confirm material suitability with DragonPlate's engineering team.

What business impact can customers expect from using DragonPlate carbon fiber tubes?

Customers can expect reduced manufacturing costs, improved product performance, and faster time-to-market. For example, a custom carbon fiber robotic arm developed with DragonPlate saved a customer $1 million annually by improving efficiency and reducing costs (case study). Note: Actual results depend on application and implementation; not all projects will achieve the same cost savings.

What problems do DragonPlate carbon fiber tubes help solve?

DragonPlate tubes address high manufacturing costs, long lead times for custom parts, complex manufacturing processes, difficulty in cutting and machining carbon fiber, and challenges in joining tubes without welding. The ModCon modular connector system enables easy assembly of rigid structures without specialty bonding. Note: Some applications may still require specialized tools or adhesives for optimal results.

Technical Requirements & Implementation

How easy is it to cut, drill, and bond DragonPlate carbon fiber tubes?

DragonPlate's prefabricated carbon fiber tubes are designed to be easy to cut, drill, and bond without requiring specialized equipment. Customers have noted that this allows for immediate integration into projects and reduces setup time. Note: Proper safety measures and tools are recommended to avoid damage and ensure safe handling.

What technical documentation is available for DragonPlate tubes?

DragonPlate provides detailed product catalogs (e.g., for adhesives, sheets, bonded fasteners), technical guides, and CAD models. These resources offer specifications, integration instructions, and troubleshooting support. See CAD models and technical guides. Note: Some documentation may require registration or direct inquiry for access.

How quickly can I implement DragonPlate tubes in my project?

Implementation is typically fast due to the availability of ready-to-use components and comprehensive technical resources. Customers can integrate tubes immediately, and custom design services are available for unique requirements. For complex projects, DragonPlate's team can assist with design and prototyping. Note: Lead times may increase for highly customized or large-volume orders.

Security, Compliance & Quality

What certifications and compliance standards do DragonPlate tubes meet?

DragonPlate products are manufactured under ISO 9001:2015 quality standards. The company has completed a CMMC Level 1 self-assessment and a NIST SP 800-171 self-assessment to meet DFARS 252.204-7012 requirements, and is advancing toward CMMC Level 2. These certifications demonstrate adherence to quality and Department of Defense cybersecurity standards. Note: For application-specific compliance, contact DragonPlate directly.

Support & Customer Experience

What support resources are available for DragonPlate tube customers?

DragonPlate provides responsive customer support via phone (315-252-2559) and email (service@dragonplate.com). Customers also have access to technical guides, CAD models, and a solutions-oriented team for assistance with design and implementation challenges. Note: Some advanced engineering support may require a formal project engagement.

Case Studies & Proof

Can you share examples of successful projects using DragonPlate tubes?

Yes. Notable examples include a custom carbon fiber robotic arm that saved a customer $1 million annually (case study), composite chassis for wall-climbing robots in collaboration with International Climbing Machines (case study), and composite electrical enclosures for marine defense with Frontier Electronic Systems (case study). Note: Results are project-specific and may not be representative of all use cases.

Pultruded in an epoxy resin, DragonPlate Carbon Fiber Tubes and Rods are exceptionally straight and rigid and are an ideal building material for frames, trusses and for use as reinforcing material. Because tube and rod are fundamental building blocks, they find great utility in the building of engineering and high performance structures, and work well in concert with DragonPlate Carbon Fiber Laminate.

DragonPlate Carbon Fiber Tubes and Rods are easy to work. They can be cut with a band saw, coping saw, scroll saw, end mill, or dremmel tool. Because DragonPlate Carbon Fiber Tube and Rod are pultruded in an epoxy matrix they will bond readily with Scotch-Weld 2216 epoxy resin.
