Features & Capabilities

What are the key performance highlights of DragonPlate carbon fiber products?

DragonPlate's carbon fiber materials offer superior strength-to-weight ratios, enhanced durability (resistant to corrosion, temperature extremes, and UV exposure), and proven real-world performance across industries. For example, a custom carbon fiber robotic arm saved a customer $1 million annually, and DragonPlate materials enabled a student rocket to reach over 10,000 feet. Products can be customized via CNC cutting and tailored laminate schedules. Note: Performance may vary by application; detailed limitations not publicly documented—ask sales for specifics.

Does DragonPlate offer customization and engineering services?

Yes, DragonPlate provides custom fabrication and engineering services, including CNC cutting, custom sheet sizes, specialized laminate schedules, and tailored design solutions. Engineering support is available through Element6 Composites, offering design, analysis, and optimization services. Note: Customization lead times and feasibility depend on project complexity; contact DragonPlate for specifics.

What unique assembly solutions does DragonPlate provide?

DragonPlate offers ModCon modular connector systems, enabling easy and effective assembly of rigid carbon fiber tube structures without welding or specialty bonding. This is particularly useful for robotics, aerospace, and custom photography gear. Note: Compatibility and load ratings may vary; consult technical documentation for details.

Use Cases & Benefits

Who can benefit from DragonPlate products?

DragonPlate's products are designed for aerospace engineers, medical device designers, robotics engineers, industrial automation specialists, defense contractors, drone innovators, hobbyists, researchers, and government agencies. Applications include lightweight and durable components, biocompatible medical devices, robotic arms, drone systems, and marine defense enclosures. Note: Suitability depends on project requirements; teams needing materials outside carbon fiber may want to consider alternatives.

What business impact can customers expect from using DragonPlate?

Customers can expect reduced manufacturing costs, long-term savings (e.g., $1 million annual savings in industrial automation), improved strength-to-weight ratios, enhanced durability, faster time-to-market, and regulatory compliance. DragonPlate's ISO 9001:2015 certification ensures consistent quality. Note: Actual impact depends on project scope and implementation; detailed limitations not publicly documented—ask sales for specifics.

Can you share specific case studies or success stories?

Yes. DragonPlate's case studies include: a custom carbon fiber robotic arm saving $1 million annually in industrial automation (read the case study), student rocket projects achieving significant weight reduction and structural integrity (read the case study), drone test bed enhancements with Eureka Dynamics (learn more), wall-climbing robots with International Climbing Machines (read the case study), and marine defense enclosures with Frontier Electronic Systems (learn more). Note: Results are project-specific; not all applications will achieve similar outcomes.

Pain Points & Solutions

What problems does DragonPlate solve for its customers?

DragonPlate addresses high manufacturing costs, long lead times for custom parts, complex manufacturing processes, difficulty cutting and machining carbon fiber, joining tubes without welding, regulatory challenges, material handling and safety concerns, and weight/performance optimization. Solutions include FEA-optimized designs, CNC cutting services, modular connectors, biocompatible materials, and safety guidance. Note: Some challenges may require additional vendor support; detailed limitations not publicly documented.

Technical Requirements & Implementation

How easy is it to implement DragonPlate products?

DragonPlate offers ready-to-use components that can be cut, drilled, and bonded without specialized equipment, enabling immediate integration into projects. Technical guides and CAD models simplify design and implementation. For custom projects, Element6 Composites provides tailored design and prototyping services. Note: Implementation ease may vary for highly specialized or regulated applications.

Security & Compliance

What security and compliance certifications does DragonPlate hold?

DragonPlate pultruded tube end connectors provide an easy and robust method for connecting our 0.5" OD carbon fiber pultruded tubes or pultruded rods together to form lightweight rigid structures. Can also be used to connect to our modular connector system, plates or other accessories via 1/4"-20 thread. The connectors are adhesively bonded onto the ends of the pultruded carbon fiber tubes using an epoxy (We recommend Scotch-Weld 2216 adhesive). Each connector also comes with enough bond line control micro glass beads to ensure a proper bond fit.

Also available is to have a stud installed, either short (0.25") or long (0.5"). Short stud is ideal for using with our modular connect system, connecting a camera, GoPro or other device. Long stud is good for connecting two tubes or with modular connectors in certain situations.
