Features & Capabilities

What performance advantages does DragonPlate carbon fiber offer?

DragonPlate carbon fiber composites provide a high strength-to-weight ratio, durability, and resistance to corrosion and wear. The materials are engineered to withstand environmental challenges and are optimized using advanced engineering tools such as Finite Element Analysis (FEA) to reduce material waste and improve efficiency. For impact-critical applications, Kevlar or carbon/Kevlar hybrid products are available. Note: Carbon fiber is strongest along the direction of the fibers; for multi-directional strength, select appropriate laminate designs. Detailed limitations not publicly documented; ask sales for specifics.

Does DragonPlate offer custom fabrication or cutting for carbon fiber sheets?

Yes, DragonPlate provides custom fabrication services, including CNC cutting for stocked materials and tailored solutions for unique project requirements. Customers can request custom sheet sizes, specialized laminate schedules, and precision-cut parts. Note: Custom orders may require additional lead time depending on project complexity.

What technical documentation is available for DragonPlate products?

DragonPlate offers a range of technical resources, including downloadable CAD models (CAD Models), detailed weights and specifications (Weights and Specifications), finishes information (Finishes Information), and a comprehensive guide to carbon fiber design and application (The Ultimate Guide). Note: Some resources may be specific to certain product lines; verify applicability for your use case.

For less demanding applications where you can live without the optimized material properties of a quasi-isotropic lay-up, we have created EconomyPlate™. Our EconomyPlate sheets are comprised of orthotropic (non quasi-isotropic) laminates utilizing a twill weave at 0°/90° orientation, while maintaining a symmetrical and balanced laminate. Instead of the standard gloss DragonPlate finish, a textured finish is supplied on both sides to keep the price low, while offering an excellent bonding surface. As with all DragonPlate solid carbon fiber sheets, EconomyPlate™ is composed entirely of a tough and rigid carbon reinforced epoxy matrix. CNC machining is also available with EconomyPlate™ solid carbon fiber sheets.
